(Port) Wine of the month October 2017: Thienpont Rich Red Vintage 1970

I have recently bought some bottles of Port from my birth year at auction, that I did not know. Honestly I thought that I know about all the bottles of Port from my year of birth, but I have never heard of this company. A Belgian importer who labelled bobs at this time, quite unusual.

The cork revealed the true producer: Butler & Nephew. Brilliant light red colour without any rim. Elegant and balanced nose with malt, raspberry and floral notes. Creamy on the palate with perfectly integrated acidity, malt, raspberry and tobacco. Medium long aftertaste. 17/20
